Kim Joon debuted as a singer and rapper in 2007, and his band T-Max sang the theme song for Boys Over Flowers. While T-Max disbanded in 2011, Kim Joon continued to join dramas, variety series and movies, notably appearing in Detectives in Trouble, Endless Love and City of the Sun. He enlisted in the military in 2011 and served until 2013, when his career in theatre blossomed, most recently appearing in Yeodo earlier this year. He made a comeback in Korea in 2015 in the thriller Hidden Identity and earlier this year appeared in Detective K: Secret of the Living Dead. He was confirmed in March 2018 to be dating actress Oh Yeon Seo. He also starred in the Chinese film Young Detective Dee: Rise of the Sea Dragon, which went on to become one of the highest grossing Chinese films in 2013, and led to a successful Chinese acting career. In 2013, Kim Bum had a public romance with his Goddess of Fire co-star Moon Geun Young before they broke up in May 2014. He released his first solo album in 2012 to success in Japan. Although they weren’t super popular shows in Korea, Playful Kiss rated really well internationally and Kim Hyun Joong was widely known in Japan. The former SS501 member went on to have a successful solo career with several hit singles and albums in Korea and Japan, and he’s starred in dramas like Playful Kiss, Inspiring Generation, and Barefoot Friends. Most online games allow players to work both collectively as well as against one another in Player vs. Other popular games followed, such as World of Warcraft, Ultima Online, StarCraft and The Sims Online. The first multiplayer online role-playing game, Neverwinter Nights, ran on AOL from 1991 from 1997. Manufacturers also distinguished their products from console games by packaging them in larger boxes that often included extra game-related merchandise, such as badges, stickers or glasses.Ĭomputer games also popularized the idea of multiplayer gaming, especially once broadband internet became common. Real-time strategy games and first-person shooters especially benefited from these advantages. The mouse was especially influential in popularizing certain genres over others for the PC, as it allowed faster and more accurate movements than console controllers. Increasing graphical capability, larger amounts of memory and the growing popularity of the mouse contributed to the rise of the computer gaming industry in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Ports and clones of the most recognized graphics-based games, such as Pac-Man, Frogger and Space Invaders, became top sellers on the personal computer. While many early computer games required text commands to be entered via the keyboard, making text adventures and interactive fiction games popular, publishers also took advantage of the arcade game craze sweeping the nation. Personal computers brought games into the home, with manufacturers such as Atari, Texas Instruments and Commodore leading the way in the 1980s. An adaption of tic-tac-toe created in 1952 represents one of the earliest computer games, along with the heavily influential Spacewar!, a space combat game developed by MIT students on a PDP-1 mainframe computer in 1961. With its roots in text-based adventures and simple shooters, computer gaming makes up an integral part of today's electronic games industry. Changing the VortexBox’s IP address to a fixed one was simple – Squeezebox Server could then always be found at 192.168.0.20:9000 and the Appliance’s configuration panel at 192.168.0.20 (newcomers might benefit from a more in-depth explanation of the beauty of headless servers). Obviously, the VortexBox Appliance brings no sonic signature to bare upon audio proceedings, so my assessment of its performance as a music server was a binary one. It’s never enjoyable having to troubleshoot a mind-bending issue, but it gave me early exposure to the community that surrounds VortexBox and – like the Slim Devices forum – I found plenty of people on hand, willing to assist and impart advice. Having said that, a stray cpu-hogging daemon plagued me for a few hours easily fixed with a couple of emails to your good self and a visit to the VortexBox forum. That’s the beauty of Linux: its stability. The Samba shares were nothing short of rock solid: ordinarily, relocating over 1TB of FLAC and MP3 would see network drop-outs or the server choke on the unrelenting torrent of incoming data. Within the first two days of use, I copied across my entire music library to the device. The Appliance proved itself to be unshakeable in its four or five weeks of use in the engine room of my apartment. Never has the streaming audio newcomer been so tidily looked after. It was obvious from the get-go that you have successfully married the VortexBox OS to a fully-compatible hardware specification that has a green outlook on life. It is clear that you have attempted to bridge that gap with the Appliance. Sure, the VortexBox.iso is available for free download, but many people have yet to overcome their perceptions that Linux requires command line expertise and would probably baulk at even giving this heavily customised Linux operating system a try. Moreover, the user doesn’t have to worry about OS install and configuration, setting up Samba file sharing, installing Squeezebox Server, DLNA server, DAAP server etc. Immediately, I could see the benefit of having someone else worry about PC component selection – saving the end-user from fretting/sweating over Linux hardware compatibility issues. The Appliance announced itself on my home network as “VortexBox” moments later and I had a fully functional NAS/media server hybrid ready to push tunes to my Squeezeboxen within less than five minutes of busting open the packaging. That the Appliance’s Fedora-based operating system is headless – no monitor, keyboard or mouse required – must be the reason that that boot time was so impressive: less than thirty seconds. The small footprint makes for a neat and simple machine that was swiftly hard-wired to my router within moments of its un-boxing. The addition of a dual layer DVD burner is not just a nice touch but pivotal to who have yet to rip their CD collections to digital audio formats (more on which later). Your component selection for the Australian version of the VortexBox Appliance seems solid enough: Atom processor, 1GB of RAM and (in my case) a 2TB hard drive. With the new wave of online distributor-as-retailer business models coming thick and fast (and bricks and mortar stores closing), the importance of connecting with one’s customers has never been so critical. Business cliche perhaps, but one that caused me to ruminate on the nature of hifi retail in Australia. Harry York of Audio Genesis proclaimed that selling hifi isn’t just about money and equipment, (more than anything) it is about people. A recent visit to the Naim dealer in Sydney changed my view of the hifi business, subtly yet indelibly. I wish to extend my thanks to you for the loan of the VortexBox Appliance for these past few weeks – and thank you for your patience in answering my numerous emails. I will go into detail about the rest in another blogarticle sometime in the future. The "You're Playing It Wrong" column in Guitar Player has the basic Bsus/B chord sequence asĪnd the tab on has it the same except for the 1st string being muted: The version I have given you here is different in its use of constant B note and the 5th and 6th chord are different, but they work very well, keep the sound consistent and clear. The middle finger stays on the 8th fret between the two chords and the pinky simply lifts off the 9th fret to resolve the suspension. The thumb frets the 6th string on the 7th fret and also mutes the 5th string. I am finding these chords very hard to form cleanly and what makes it worse is that your hand needs to land right on it correctly you're strumming like a drunken British former art school student so you can't really fix things after the fact without sounding worse. Check out this instructional acoustic guitar video that provides a lesson that explains what sus4 chords are and how to play the verse of the song 'Pinball Wizard' by The Who because its a great example of a sus4 chord. I'd be curious to know what you major dudes do with your fretting hand to make this clean. Improve your guitar skills by watching this short tutorial video to learn about sus4 chords. When I was practicing last night I was trying to get my palm out and away from the back of the neck and that seemed to help, but there are limits to that because of needing to keep the thumb wrapped around the top. Keeping the middle finger up enough to not interfere with the all-important 3rd string is one challenge and getting the 1st and 2nd strings to sound at all - I've about given up on that. You may still be held to the terms of the agreement.
